Goya Awards

The Goya Awards are the premier national film awards presented annually in Spain. Established in 1987 by the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (Academia Española de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas), the awards honor outstanding achievements in the Spanish film industry, including various categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress, among others. Named after the renowned Spanish painter Francisco de Goya, the awards aim to promote and recognize the artistic and technical accomplishments in Spanish cinema. The Goya Awards are considered the Spanish equivalent of the Academy Awards in the United States, celebrating and showcasing the richness and diversity of Spanish filmmaking.
