Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by getting a spherical ball into the opposing goal. Players primarily use their feet to dribble, pass, and shoot the ball, but they can also use other parts of their bodies, except their arms and hands, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who is allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, and is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Soccer is characterized by its fast-paced nature and emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill. It is one of the most popular sports in the world, with millions of participants and fans, and major international competitions like the FIFA World Cup and continental tournaments further enhance its global appeal. The sport is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and has a rich history and cultural significance in many places around the globe.
